Mr. Jones was originally appointed as the Interim City Administrator for the City of Smyrna in August 2015 prior to his formal swearing in as the permanent City Administrator in January 2016. Prior to joining the organization, he served as the County Administrator for Paulding County, Georgia since 2009. His past work experience includes work as a consulting civil engineer in the areas of water, sewer, solid waste, transportation and land planning. He has previously served as an Adjunct Professor in the field of fluid mechanics & hydraulics at Kennesaw State University (f.k.a Southern Polytechnic State University). He is also a proud veteran of the U.S. Air Force.

Mr. Jones is an active member of numerous professional organizations such as the Water Environment Federation (WEF) and the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE). He is a 2010 graduate of the Atlanta Regional Commission – Regional Leadership Institute (RLI) program. He has been published in several peer-reviewed journals for both governmental and engineering related topics. He is a registered Professional Engineer in both Alabama & Georgia.

Mr. Jones earned a Master of Science degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, Tennessee in 1997; received a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering Technology from the Southern College of Technology in Marietta, Georgia in 1996; and received an Associate of Science degree in Bioenvironmental Engineering Technology from the Community College of the Air Force in 1990.

Jones is responsible for the day-to-day operations for the City of Smyrna. The City Administrator is charged with updating Mayor and Council on City business and makes policy recommendations as well as serves as appointing authority, studies and acts on complaints and is charged with presenting a balanced annual budget to Mayor and Council for approval.

The office of City Administrator is established and authorized in the City of Smyrna Code of Ordinances Chapter 2, Article III, Division 2, Section 2-96 thru 2-104

Tammi Saddler

Tammi Saddler Jones was appointed the Assistant City Administrator for the City of Smyrna in December 2009. Prior to joining the organization, she served as the Assistant Town Manager in the Town of Berlin, Connecticut from 2006 to 2009. Her past work experience also includes serving as the Assistant to the City Administrator for the City of League City, Texas for six years.

Jones is an active member of numerous professional organizations such as the International City/County Management Association (ICMA). Her accomplishments include being an internationally recognized graduate of the Leadership ICMA Program and a graduate of the Senior Executive Institute that is run by the Weldon Cooper Center for Public Service at the University of Virginia.

Jones earned a Masters degree in Public Administration from The Ohio State University in 1997 and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Tougaloo College in Tougaloo, Mississippi in 1993.

Jones currently supervises the department heads for the following areas of operation: Keep Smyrna Beautiful, Library, and Information Systems as well as the Vision Plan and the Government Fellow program.
