The Smyrna Fire Rescue Training Division is responsible for providing and coordinating continuing education opportunities in Firefighting and Emergency Medical Services. There are three full-time personnel assigned to this division.
The EMS Director coordinates and conducts continual medical training, in accordance with Georgia State requirements, for all current EMT-Intermediates and EMT-Paramedics. The EMS Director also conducts initial training for personnel that are not currently certified as EMS providers. Public education in CPR and First Aid is also coordinated and conducted through the EMS Director’s office.
The Fire Training Officer coordinates and conducts continual fire training, in accordance with Georgia Fire Fighter Standards and Training requirements, for all currently certified firefighters. The Fire training Officer also conducts initial training for those persons that are hired and not currently certified as a Georgia Firefighter. The fire training Officer conducts public fire safety education through the local school system, and utilizes the departments Fire safety Trailer in conducting this education.
